Experience the oldest portion of Kauia's original shield volcano. This all day trekking adventure takes guests on a journey through a mature native forest to view the spectacular Na Pali Coast.

Trek the uplands of Kauai along a stretch of trail early Hawaiians may have used for gathering plants for medicines, lei and building materials. Travel through an evolved, mature, native cloud forest, dry scrubland and mixed wet-dry forest to reach majestic valley and coastal views.

See native birds that represent the island's unique evolutionary web of life. This is the great western slope of Kauai, a remnant of the 5-million-year-old shield volcano that once stood 10,000 feet above sea level and now measures 4,500 feet. View the spectacular 2,500-ft cliffs of Na Pali, evidence of large-scale subsidence and sculpting by catastrophic faults, wave erosion and waterfalls.

This full-day trek leaves from Poipu at 8am and returns by 6pm. This strenuous hike varies in length from an out-and-back 9 mile option to a loop of 11 miles. The elevation drop/gain is 1500-1700 feet. The trail can be slippery and wet while in the upland forest to dry and rocky on teh edge of the Na Pali Coast. A delicious deli-style lunch, snacks, bottled water and other beverages are included to keep your energy up!

• Lunch - Our lunches are first rate. We have sandwiches catered at the DALI Deli in Old Koloa Town. They use only fresh ingredients. If you have any dietary requirements or are a vegetarian, we will do our best to suit your needs.

This tour must be booked at least 24 hours in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12- 24 hours subject to availability.

Cancellation and No Show Policy

Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 24 hours are charged a minimum $10.00 per person administration fee. We charge for NO SHOWS. No Shows on tour dates are charged 100%. Some specific tours and activities have a higher cancellation fee due to the limited space available.

Recommended for all Nature Tours in Kauai: If you have a favorite day pack, bring it! Please don't forget SUNSCREEN. Depending on which hike you choose, a swim suit is a good idea, but not necessary. Don't forget your hat, sunglasses, and camera. Running shoes are acceptable, so are sport-sandals, but hiking boots are the best (the more ankle support the better!). We provide backpacks and raingear, but bring your own if you would like.
